April 26, 2021 – Locomotive Engineer Richard Moffat made his final run from Smiths Falls to Toronto on train 143 after 37 years of service. He was met at Toronto & Lambton by family and many friends.
Richard has served as Division
295 President since January 1998, Division 295 Legislative Rep since
2008, an executive member of the Provincial Legislative Board since 2014
and Vice Chair of the Provincial Legislative Board of Ontario since
April 2018.
His union work at all levels
has been both effective and admirable but his
lasting legacy is within Division 295. His leadership locally has been
strong, steady and unifying in the face of the many attacks on our
rights. His concern for the well being of every member and his passion
for the labour movement is genuine. The members of Division 295 have
benefited as a result.
Simply put, this is the end of
an era. That said, President Moffat has laid the ground work for us to
be successful moving forward. He has been a mentor for generations of
union officers who will serve us well.
We’d like to congratulate Brother Moffat on his retirement and we wish him all the best moving forward.
The legacy he leaves is a strong unified Division.
