Greg Banton

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that Division 295 announces the passing of Brother Greg Banton.
Greg began his railway career at CP in 1989 as a Yard Helper, working his way up to Conductor and eventually retiring in 2023 from the Run Through Pool. Throughout his career, Greg was a dedicated union representative and advocate for his fellow members. He served as Yard Local Chairman for the UTU in Toronto and later as Road Local Chairman for the TCRC in Toronto for many years.
Greg’s contributions to the railroad and the union extended far beyond his official roles. As a Field Placement Coordinator in Toronto, he helped train and mentor countless new hires entering the industry. Even in retirement, Greg continued his commitment to the TCRC by maintaining websites and social media accounts for multiple divisions across Canada.
Greg was an exceptional co-worker, trusted friend, and tireless representative who truly exemplified the meaning of Brotherhood and solidarity. He was always willing to support the Brothers and Sisters of our railroad family, and his kindness, dedication, and leadership left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be deeply missed, and the legacy he leaves behind will never be forgotten.
Information regarding arrangements will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
