Celebrating Erik Toupins Retirement 38 Years of Dedication and Impact at CPKC

Congratulations, Brother Erik Toupins, on your retirement after 38 years with CPKC!

Erik hired on in Montreal in 1988 before transferring to Toronto in 1990, where he would go on to finish his career working as an engineer on the KLR Havelock Run.

Throughout his career, Erik earned the respect of his peers as a highly skilled engineer who took great pride in his work. He has trained countless engineers over the years, passing along invaluable knowledge, experience, and skills that will continue to benefit the railway for years to come.

Erik’s smile, laughter, and positive presence will be greatly missed around the property. On behalf of Division 295, we thank him for his years of dedicated service as Teamster and wish him a long, healthy, and well-deserved retirement.

Enjoy this next chapter, Erik—and best of luck with your new job driving your wife crazy!

Update: Message from Erik

Here is glimpses of my last day of ever being a locomotive engineer. No more waking up at 3:30 am driving down the road looking at the sun and wondering how the day is going to be? For my part I had a great career I always said I love what I do but maybe just not agreeing with how the company became .

So it was time for me to hang my boots up on the line like the old generation use to do in Toronto yard (yes I am that old !!

I would like to say a special thanks for all the great people who helped me make this day so special. As you all know when we work we take care of each other, we help each other, we respect each other and with out the support , sacrifice of the love of my life Carole I would never have been the man that you all know me as today. She is the best conductor and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for directing our ‘life train’.

To you all I wish you the very best and a Fantastic career on the railway.

P.S. Now to all my friends who also had to make sacrifices my calendar is wide open, anytime anyplace.
