Last Trip July 14 on 133-13 Smiths Falls to Toronto

Dave hired on with CP in 2004 after spending the early part of his career with the Ontario Provincial Police. He qualified as a Locomotive Engineer in 2012, a role he took very seriously by demonstrating exceptional professionalism and always putting safety first—for both himself and the conductors he worked alongside. Amazingly, Dave managed to complete his entire railway career knuckle free!
He was a great friend to everyone around him, if you needed a shoulder to lean on Dave would be there. Always ready with a laugh, a good story, and a positive attitude in the cab.
Dave especially enjoyed training new engineers, passing along his knowledge and experience to ensure the next generation of railroaders had a strong foundation to build on. If you earned a gold star in your book from Dave, you knew you had truly earned it—he wasn’t easy to impress, and his standards reflected the pride he took in the profession.
Dave will be greatly missed in Toronto, but we’re excited to see him begin this next chapter. We wish him a long, healthy, and happy retirement filled with new adventures, time with family and friends, and all the best in the years ahead.
Congratulations, Brother Torsky, and enjoy your well-earned retirement!
